United Way's Day of Caring September 15th

For Immediate Release – Celebrating its 10th Annual Day of Caring September 15th, United Way and its volunteers will help nonprofit agencies stock kitchen pantries, paint, clean, landscape, and read to children.

It is expected that nearly 180 volunteers from 31 area companies will donate the day to assist local health and human service agencies with a host of maintenance projects. United Way agencies from throughout the region are asked if they need help with maintenance or other projects that normally cannot get done by the agency due to financial and personnel constraints.

The Day of Caring volunteers anticipate tackling approximately 50 projects at 25 non-profit agencies. Some of the projects include lawn work, painting, and restocking a food pantry.

Rich Palmer, executive director of Montachusett YMCA and chair of United Way’s Day of Caring, is encouraging companies and their employees to participate. “The event continues to grow every year thanks to the wonderful support of the community,” said Palmer. “The volunteers walk away with a real sense of satisfaction.”

Anyone who is interested in participating is encouraged to contact United Way of North Central Massachusetts at 978-345-1577.
