Unitil’s Gantz to lead United Way Campaign
Fitchburg, Massachusetts (July 14, 2006) – The United Way of North Central Massachusetts announced that George R. Gantz, senior vice president of Unitil, will serve as chair of the 2006-07 campaign.
“George’s energy and leadership qualities will be a significant benefit to our campaign efforts this year,” commented Scott Howard, chairman of United Way. “We are delighted that he has agreed to take the lead on this very important responsibility.”
Gantz served as co-chair of the campaign last year. “The annual campaign is a great team effort and I look forward to working closely with all the campaign volunteers who make it happen. Their extraordinary efforts in making the calls and in coordinating the workplace campaigns are the foundation for the United Way’s efforts to keep our community strong and healthy,” noted Gantz.
The money raised by United Way is invested in 63 health and human services programs that service 19 communities. Campaign support comes from corporate donations, employee workplace giving and individual donations online at www.uwncm.org.
The United Way of North Central Massachusetts Community Care Fund serves the communities of Ashburnham, Ashby, Ayer, Barre, Devens, Fitchburg, Gardner, Groton, Harvard, Hubbardston, Leominster, Littleton, Lunenburg, Pepperell, Shirley, Templeton, Townsend, Westminster and Winchendon.
