IDOL AT THE MOUNT
Look out Kelly Clarkson! Look out Carrie Underwood! Central Massachusetts will soon have its own “Idol.” The Idol at the Mount Competition will be held to determine the best vocal soloist in Central Massachusetts and to raise money for the many fine programs supported by United Way of North Central Massachusetts.  Preliminary auditions have narrowed  the field down to 12 finalists who will compete on stage at Mount Wachusett Community College on Friday, April 7, 2006 for cash prizes and for the title Idol at the Mount.

WHEN?

Idol at the Mount Competition – Friday, April 7, 2006, at 8:00pm, MWCC, 444 Green St.,Gardner

HOW DO I GET TICKETS?

  • Ticket price - $15.00
  • Tickets on sale at the Theatre at the Mount box office beginning March 6, 2006
  • Box Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 12:30pm and 1:15 to 2:00pm; phone number to charge tickets is 978 632-2403

HOW IS THE WINNER SELECTED?

  • Finalists will appear on stage on Friday, April 7, 2006 at 8:00pm to compete for the title Idol at the Mount
  • Finalists will sing a 1 ½  to 2 minute vocal selection, accompanied by the competition’s pianist
  • Judges will select 3 Grand Finalists from amongst the 12 performers
  • 3 Grand Finalists will sing a second vocal selection
  • Audience will vote for and select the Idol at the Mount

WHO ARE THE JUDGES?

  • Maestro Toshimasa Francis Wada – Thayer Symphony Orchestra
  • Diane Tammi Cushing – Music Professor Keene State College/director Greater Gardner Community Choir
  • David Lasky – Music Director St. Cecelia’s Church/former music critic for Worcester Telegram

WHAT IS THE PRIZE?

  • First Place - $1000.00
  • Second Place - $500.00
  • Third Place - $250.00
