United Way hosting workshop on how nonprofits can create new sources of revenue

Fitchburg, MA (October 11, 2007) – The United Way of North Central Massachusetts and Institute for Nonprofit Development at Mount Wachusett Community College are hosting a workshop for nonprofit organizations on how to create new sources of revenue. The half day seminar entitled “Social Enterprise: A Path to Greater Sustainability” is being held Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Four Points Sheraton, Leominster, MA.

Community Wealth Ventures, a social enterprise consulting firm that helps organizations become more self-sustaining by generating revenue through business ventures, will conduct the workshop to educate nonprofit organizations’ staff and board members about the field of social enterprise. It will also engage in discussion about how an organization could leverage its assets as a means of increasing and diversifying its revenue base.

“We are thrilled to have nationally recognized expert Billy Shore share with our nonprofit community innovative strategies on creating new and unique sources of revenue,” commented Phil Grzewinski, president of United Way of North Central Massachusetts. “The possibilities are limitless, when you consider that Community Wealth Ventures in 2006 helped 20 ventures generate nearly $8 million in new revenues.”

The November 2nd event is from 8:30 am to 12:00 noon and the registration fee is $25.00. For more information or to reserve a seat, contact United Way of North Central Massachusetts at 978-345-1577 or uwncm@uwncm.org

The event sponsors are United Way of North Central Massachusetts, Institute for Nonprofit Development at Mount Wachusett Community College, Workers’ Credit Union and Karson Aubuchon, chair of Community Builders.
