Town & Country Apartment residents and community volunteers package 20,000 meals for food pantries

For Immediate Release – Community volunteers and residents of Town & Country Apartments packaged 20,000 meals yesterday (Thursday) for local food pantries.

This is the second time that Marc DiGeronimo, president of Town & Country Apartments, has sponsored a United Way of North Central Massachusetts food packaging event that benefits food pantries in Athol, Gardner, Templeton, Winchendon, Fitchburg, Leominster, Devens, Townsend and Pepperell

Participants assembled the food packaging meals in the community room of Town & Country Apartments, located next to Twin City Plaza, in partnership with United Way Volunteer Center.

Residents from the complex, along with other volunteers from the community, packaged, sealed and boxed nutritious meals of rice and beans, and macaroni and cheese. The boxes of meals were delivered to 12 food pantries across the region.

“Town & Country Apartments and all the volunteers demonstrate the collective impact that can be made through volunteerism,” said Fran Longton, volunteer coordinator of United Way’s Volunteer Center.
