United Way Youth Venture launches

Avanti Mohan (2nd from left) and Kathryn Wheeler (2nd from right) of Groton, MA present their United Way Youth Venture project at Francis W. Parker Charter Essential  School in Devens, MA, as Jen Alexander and Carrie Duff, who are teachers and serve as champions for the students’ project, introduce them to a panel of judges.  The students’ initiative, called Puppy Love, plans to educate the community on the abuse and misuse of dogs bred in puppy mills, which are breeding facilities that produce purebred puppies in large numbers. United Way Youth Venture is a program that empowers young people to address community issues.
